CRAFTMANSHIP & TRADITION

Traditional arts & crafts – a historic walking tour in Salzburg

Tour Info

Take a walk with me through Salzburg’s passage-ways to discover medieval towers – still inhabited -, Renaissance-styled inner court yards, hidden cafés and traditional (family run) art & craft shops. Throughout our walking tour we’ll visit a weaver, a belt producer or a workshop for traditional hand-made umbrellas. We’ll follow the traces of traditional handcraft and young ‘start-up-businesses’ like a knife-smith and a jewel-designer.

Moreover, we will explore the origin of traditional leather trousers and the local so-called „Dirndl“. Fascinated you will learn about the development of fashion from working clothes to national costumes and we’ll find out that Salzburg is the centre of a re-discovered lifestyle … this special walk will whet your appetite to immerse yourself in the Salzburg shopping scene!

This tour can be combined with local culinary specialities ☺ To give this handcraft-tour a special touch we can visit (upon request) a gin distillery or a location where the locals use to enjoy Austrian quality wines or a “high-proof” medicine.
