CITY MOUNTAIN HIKING
Nature reloaded … walking tour over the roofs of Salzburg
1 / X
Enjoy Salzburgs nature
The old city of Salzburg is embedded between the Capuchin- and the Monchs-mountain. The third one is called Rainberg … these 3 hills inspired a cook to create the famous ‘Salzburger Nockerl’ – a delicious soufflée-dessert, which you have to try, but this is another story ☺
A short walk from the Green Market we take a staircase up to the Mönchsberg … half way up we overview the Festival District, the Dome and St. Peter … upon arrival at the top we are inmidst a green hide-out with great views to all directions. We continue our walk to the fortress ‘Hohensalzburg’ or in the opposite direction to the Museum of Modern Art and we simply enjoy the nature in the middle of the city.
The Kapuzinerberg (Capuchin mountain) is the more originate and wild pendant to the open-minded Mönchsberg. During our walk through the forest we’ll meet the famous painter Oskar Kokoschka, the writer Stefan Zweig and ‘Woiferl’ (our nick-name for Wolfgang Amadeus) and if we’re lucky we can even discover some chamois … once we arrive at the ‘Franziskischlössl’ we really deserve a culinary surprise ☺
